Shahabah

The Sahaba:What made these stars shine so brightly? The Sahabat What made these stars shine so brightly By Mahvash Chaudhri INTRODUCTION At one time this Message [of calling people to Islam and training people as Muslims] created a generation without any parallel in the history of Islam, even in the entire history of man, the generation of the Companions (ra) of the Prophet (saw). After this, no other generation of this caliber was ever again to be found. It is true that we do find some individuals of this caliber here and there in history, but never again did a great number of such people exist in one region as was the case during the first period of Islam (Qutb, 11). What are the factors behind such unprecedented personalities? These companions were put under unbearable forms of torture, but they continued to resist and persist without any compromise. What are the major factors behind such unmatched persistence that the companions of the prophet (saw) were known for in history? Some

Fear Allah (4)

THE REASONS FOR FAILING TO FEAR ALLAH Say: "Who provides for you out of heaven and Earth? Who controls hearing and sight? Who brings forth the living from the dead and the dead from the living? Who directs the whole affair?" They will say, "Allah." Say, "So will you not guard against evil?" (Surah Yunus: 31) As openly revealed by Allah in His verses, when those people who possess only superficial belief are asked about it, they will admit their belief in Allah, but the fearful awareness of Him will be found wanting. The clearest proof of their condition is that neither in their speech nor in their behavior do they display the least sign of fear or caution with respect to Allah. There are well-known reasons underlying this. The lack of a true appreciation of Allah Generally amongst the populace an understanding of religion based on hearsay is widespread. The majority of people have not familiarized themselves with Allah's own descriptions of Himself an

About Mercy

The Most Merciful shows Mercy to those who have Mercy on Others Author: Shaikh Muhammad Musa Nasr Source: Al-Asaalah Magazine (No. 21, pg. 17-19) Translator: isma'eel alarcon The Prophet (saws) once kissed Al-Hasan Ibn `Alee (i.e. his grandson) while Al-Aqra' Ibn Haabis was in his presence. So Al-Aqra' said to him: "You kiss your children. I swear by Allaah, I have ten children and I never kissed any one of them!" So the Prophet (saws) said: "He who doesn't show mercy (to others) will not be shown mercy (by Allaah)." Verily, mercy - in our religion - encompasses this world and the hereafter, as well as mankind, animals, birds, and the surrounding habitats. Allaah says: "And My mercy encompasses every thing." Allaah has described Himself with mercy and He has also described His prophets and righteous servants with it. Allaah says: "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah (saws) and those who are with him are severe against the disbelievers

Journey of Soul

The Journey of the SOUL by Sheikh Suhaib Hassan Abdul Gaffar Forward Throughout history, man has been fascinated by all aspects of the unseen. He has especially attempted to explore and understand the phenomenon of the soul - that mysterious power which activates the human body. Many questions were asked, but only a few answers were available. During the lifetime of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihe wa-sallam) the Jews of Medina sent their allies, the Makkan infidels, to the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihe wa-sallam) to ask about the soul. In reply to their questions, the following Qur'aanic verse was revealed: “They ask you [O Muhammad (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam)] concerning the Ruh (Soul). Say: 'It is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you (mankind) have been given very little.” [Soorah Al-Israa (17) :85] Because so little knowledge was available, most Muslim scholars considered any discussion concerning the soul to be 'taboo

Six Right of Muslim

Tafseer of the Hadeeth of Six Rights of every Muslim Ash-Shaikh 'Abdur-Rahmaan As-Sa'dee's explanation of the hadeeth regarding the Muslim's rights Abu Hurayrah (radhiyallaahu 'anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "The rights of the Muslim upon the Muslim are six." It was said, "And what are they Oh Messenger of Allaah?" He replied, "When you meet him, give him the greeting of peace, when he invites you, respond to his invitation, when he seeks your advice, advise him, when he sneezes and praises Allaah, supplicate for mercy upon him, when he becomes ills, visit him, and when he dies follow him (i.e. his funeral)." This hadeeth was reported by Muslim. These six rights, whoever establishes them in dealing with the Muslims, then his establishing things other than them (from the obligations) are even more important (or necessary). And his doing these things results in him fulfilling these obl
