my Talk

This is a talk that i've given to summer Youth Project in my Area...

Assalamualaikum wr wb
All praise to Allah that today we can get together again, maybe some of you saw me on the last summer project and I just want to say that it was lovely to see u again and discuss about Islam again with all of you, the youth and the reviver of this ummah.

inshaAllah today we will discuss about one of the article of the belief that is about qadla wa qadar….maybe some of you memorize what we called as imanu mujmal….amantu billah, wamalaikatihi wa kutubihi warusulihi wal yaumil akhiri wal qada’i khairihima wa syarrihima minallahi ta’ala…

Yes! We will talk about the last bit of the imanu mujmal….
Before hand I just want to know how many of you do memorize that imanu mujmal.
And how many of you understand the meaning of it?
And how many of you can explain about all those 6 things and its relation with our life in this world???
If none can explain then here I am to explain it and that’s why I want your mind with me for maybe about 15 mints and don’t think about anything else. Just listen and try to understand my simple English. Ready?

Okay before I start I just want to ask you a bit more qs, have u ever been so sad in you life?
And have u ever been happy? Have u ever notice that your eyebrow never get long but at the same time your hair is growing? have u noticed that every living things will die and have u ever noticed as well that man wont be able to walk on the water, every ball that we throw up will go down to the earth, that water always move from top hill to the lower part of the earth?

All my explanation will be linked with all I‘ve mentioned just now…..and I just want to you realize how the understanding that we have about all around us will bring correct point of view of all we have to do in this life…..

I m sure all of you believe that Allah is the one who created us, I am sure all of you believe that Muhammad SAW is His messenger, I m sure all of you believe that our mission living in this world, taking a breath every minutes, the beating of our heart has a purpose and that is to worship Allah…..

So if we understand and decide that is our mission living in this duniya then now how we going to apply this to our reality….the only thing we can do is obeying His entire rule and applying all His law in our daily life action! How our action will be reward able?how do we have to prioritize things?how do we have to gain reward in every single things that happen in our life?. This is what qadla wa qadar talking about….we will talk about human’s action related with the reward and punishment in the day of judgement…but 1stly you have to be sure as well how beautiful jannah is and how scary and horrible hellfire is….I am not going to explain those things now but u can raise this as question later on in QS time…

Now sisters…if we look at the reality of what happening around us and what fall to us…then we will realize that there are 2 spheres.
is the sphere where We are dominated by Someone i.e Allah SWT
Is the sphere where we dominate within it

The sphere/area where we are dominated meaning that Allah has control over us, no matter what we want, no matter how hard we try to avoid it ,we wont be able to avoid it, we have to submit with the decision that Allah made for us

In this area it is divided into 2:

One is the area that we can understand the pattern for example the one that I asked you earlier that human beings wont be able to walk on the water, every living things will die, every time we throw up the ball will go down to the earth and water will always find the lower place….this things is well-known as law of the universe and we have no option but obeying it, even though we try hard not to obey it then we will end up being part of that universe law…in this case as a Muslim who want a lot of rewards then what we can do is pondering and think how Almighty Allah is and how powerful he is by controlling everything and we can gain a lot of scientific knowledge from the pattern that he created

the 2nd one is the area where we are dominated but it doesn’t follow the law of the universe, for example, you have been walking very careful, look right and left but yet you still got accident, or maybe you’ve been trying hard to study and try to pass the exams but yet you failed, or maybe you tried hard to keep your money and mobile phone safe but yet it was stolen, or maybe you just laying down on the bed and suddenly you neighbour knocks your doors and send you a sweet or maybe invite you for lunch together or maybe you try to enter very good school or university, get a job but u failed the exams and the interview or maybe extremely while you walking in the demo suddenly there’s a brother come to you and ask your hand to marry him…ha-ha….
You see sister? All these things happen beyond our expectation and maybe we never thought that it’s going to happen. How come is it? Because Allah controls all those things and because its controlled by him then He will never ask us in the day of judgement about these things, he wont ask why we failed in the exam, why we got accident, why we get the sweet and why we didn’t get the job but definitely He will ask what is our reaction when we got all those so called ‘surprise’? are we patient enough if something bad fall to us or we’re just mourning and mourning, get agitated and then shout and swearing, curse other people for what has happened, or maybe throw pillow, break plate, bang the door or maybe lift and throw the bed/sofa if you are strong girl…he-he

On the other hand, Allah will ask you if you get happiness, what was your reaction. were you grateful or end up with being arrogant as you feel you can achieve something that not many people can achieve it.

If we understand this area deeply then there’s no way we got distressed living in this duniya?why?because we can draw the line where our part and where is Allah’s part, we can accept whatever His Decision coz we’re sure that He’s all-known and never be unjust to His servant. If there’s difficulties then we see it as a test/trial from Allah to check the strength of our Iman. Allah will not leave us say we have iman unverified, it’s the same as if you claim urself doctor then when u aplly the job the people will ask your qualification and ask you a lot of thing and put u in hardship interview to see whether you are a good candidate / a good doctor or not.

الم--أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَن يُتْرَكُوا أَن يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لَا يُفْتَنُونَ--وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ

2 Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, "We believe", and that they will not be tested?-3 We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.

In His hadith The Messenger of Allah - sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - said, "Strange is the affair of the Mu'min (the believer), verily all his affairs are good for him. If something pleasing befalls him he thanks (Allah) and it becomes better for him. And if something harmful befalls him he is patient (Saabir) and it becomes better for him. And this is only for the Mu'mmin "

So there is always winning situation for muslim whatever happen as long as he follows the guidance of Allah

Now! We talk about the 2nd sphere where we dominate and we have control to what will happen and what has happened

In this case I can give u example that you coming to this project, I am sure none of us feeling that there’s something/ghost or something dragging your leg to this hall. Yes maybe your friend force to come but if you really don’t want to come then you can escape, or maybe now you can still leave the place, there is no such reality that suddenly you realize that you sit somewhere without knowing why you are there and what makes you reach there. Because this is under our control then we have a lot of option, we have choice to do this and that….but the problem now what is your standard to choose, do we choose just because it goes with our desire and its fun or we choose it because Allah said so….in this case we need Islamic knowledge to get the right option plus keep seeking it and the most important thing that we have to remember in every decision that we make in this sphere will be accounted in the day of judgement justly by Allah SWT. He will question how do spend your holiday? Are you just playing around, shopping around, having fun with friends and forget to pray, forget to seek Islamic knowledge, forget to learn the Quran, or you spending usefully by attending the summer youth project?

Allah mentioned in the Quran surah Zalzalah :6-8

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ ---- فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ ---- وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ
6.On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done)-7 Then shall anyone who has done an atom’s weight of good, see it!-8 And anyone who has done an atom’s weight of evil, shall see it.

And Allah has given us Quran as guidance and its clearly mentioned in the Quran in surah al balad :10 Allah says

وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ

And shown him the two highways?

And surah AsSyams : 8

And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;-

- فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا

From this fact then we have to be careful when we decide something, or when we choose something, always ask your self what is the reason I choose this and what does Islam say about this? By questioning and thinking ahead before doing the action it will save u from the hell-fire and wrong decision.

The last one is about Qadar. Its definition is an attribute, every object in this world has its own attribute for example, fire has attribute to burn, water to wet/fresh, knife to cut. Will it be used to kill or to cut onion it depends on human beings, and if it is used to kill then the mistake is not to the knife but to the one who carry the action, and as human being we have attribute that is the instinct as well as the organic needs that drive us to do a lot of things in our life.
